I often get the question, “Why the name Utility?”
A couple of reasons: In baseball, most teams have a utility infielder or player who can play anywhere on the field and usually does it pretty well. A very dependable, valuable asset for a team.
A utility knife. An essential tool in any handyman’s tool belt. Cuts through anything, thick, thin, large or small.
Thinking back to college philosophy, when Socrates and Plato talked about a society or an individuals utility, they were referring to their general well-being, their ability to take care of themselves.
All these characteristics embody Crossfit Utility.
