Trainers
My name is Doug Price. I have been a firefighter/ paramedic for 12 years. I graduated from The University of Akron with a B.S. in Physical Education in 1999. I have a background in football, baseball, wrestling, and bodybuilding. I’ve competed in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge and more recently The CrossFit Games Qualifiers. I became CrossFit Level I certified in March of 2009.
Physical fitness is my passion. I’ve used almost every training method out there. I can tell you CrossFit is the real deal! This program reaches far beyond physical training. In short, It Makes You Better At Life! That may sound silly, but it’s true.
Brian Krebs is a Cuyahoga Falls firefighter/ paramedic. He is Crossfit Level 1 certified and has a background in MMA. Brian won’t tell you the following, so I will. He has a knack for teaching, especially, complicated movements. He also has a great sense of humor, but when it’s time to work, no one pushes harder. Utility is lucky to have him.

Cody Keathley
Cody is a 20 year old Mechanical Engineering student at The University of Akron. Growing up he played soccer, baseball, and basketball. He still enjoys whitewater rafting, swimming, and backpacking. He ran his first Marathon last year in Akron at the Road Runner. He also has become quite the competitive Crossfitter over the last year. Cody is a smart young man and a hard worker, those attributes will undoubtedly shine through in his training.

Seth Reese
I have been active in physical fitness since high school, starting with running and eventually becoming passionate about weight lifting. After years of traditional weight training, I stumbled upon CrossFit and realized I had been spinning my wheels in my search for fitness.
I became CrossFit Level 1 Certified in March, 2010, and added a CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certification in May, 2010. I enjoy all aspects of training others, but am especially fond of teaching barbell movements. Outside of the gym, I work an 8-5 desk job in marketing for a local company, and I have been known to work on my air squat at my desk.
Lauren Rutan
I am 27 years old, wife, and mother of 3 little ones! I have been in fitness for most of my life. No joke was in the gym in a baby carrier at 6 weeks old with my father who is a body builder and have never left since. I started gymnastics at age 3, dance at age 4, then went on to cheerleading until my junior year of college at Kent State University. In 2003 I started competing in the fitness and figure industry. I loved lifting and any type of physical activity! I had 3 kids in 4 years and started running long distances after that for a change. Did my first half marathon when my youngest was 3 1/2 months old then came to crossfit the next day…..never turned back since! I love crossfit and everything about it!! I’ve said this once and ill say it again- I could never image going back into the gym and lifting a body part or 2 then going on the elliptical or treadmill for 45 min….. I would shoot myself!!!! Crossfit is my drug its intense and addicting!!! I try and convince everyone I come in contact with to try it and you should too!
Eric Eggert
I’m married with two dogs, and have worked at Summit Racing Equipment since 2000, before that I was in the Army. I played football growing up and in high school, coached some pee-wee football, and even played semi-pro football as recently as 2011. I’ve always been into fitness and like most did the ”Globo Gym” thing for years. A friend introduced me to CrossFit in 2006, but at that time affiliates were few and far between, and doing CrossFit on your own without a trainer or the motivation of working with others just isn’t the same. I got into running and ran two half marathons before finding my way back to CrossFit in 2010. CrossFit turned exercisng into a sport, and a community. The magic in CrossFit is from that shared experience with the others in the gym. Pushing, competing with, and cheering for each other is what it’s all about. I can’t imagine going back to doing anything else.
Jennifer Keyes Ruther – wife and mother of two. I have been a heavy equipment operator for 18 years. I have always had to stay strong to keep up in the field. In trying to stay fit not only for work but keeping up with my kids and husband, I’ve tried a lot of different things: spinning, running, roller derby, and finally fell into Crossfit. I’ve been doing Crossfit for 16 months now, and just got my Level 1 in March. I’ve been coaching at Crosssfit Utility. Crossfit is a great sport, and it’s a fantastic community at Utility! There is nothing more exciting to me than to challenge others who don’t think they can do something and show them, “You can do this! You are strong!“
